Frequently Asked Questions

When and where will my session take place?

I usually like to shoot about 45 minutes - 3 hours before the sun sets depending on which session package you choose. The lighting is PERFECT for photos!

Usually, horse and rider sessions are taken at your barn. If you are worried you don't have enough photo ops at your barn and your horse's personality/temperament allow, I know of a few places to trailer to.

When is payment due? How do I pay you?

There is a $50 nonrefundable deposit due upon booking your session date. Your balance is due the day of your session, unless you request a payment plan. The easiest way to pay me is online right on your invoice with your credit card or a check.

What if the weather is bad the day of our session?

I only reschedule photo sessions if it's raining. Overcast days (unless it’s TOO dark) and sunny days are perfect for photos. I keep dates open each month incase we do need to reschedule.

What if my horse acts up during our session?

A LOT of horses act a little more antsy than normal when they're asked to stand still in front of the camera. I have some tips to avoid it, but it still might happen, and that's okay. We will laugh it off, and I will tell you A MILLION stories of how other horses I have photographed have been worse ;) then we will see what your horse needs - if he wants a break to eat the grass, needs a quick lunge, a buddy near by, and we will carry on! The most important thing is not to get stressed - I promise, we will get great shots regardless!

When will I receive my photos?

About 1 week after your session, you will see a couple previews. About 3-4 weeks after your session, you will receive your online gallery with your edited images. About 2 weeks after you use your print credit, you will get your package with your USB drive and prints (if your package included them or you bought them).

Can I post these on Instagram and Facebook?

ABSOLUTELY! I love when my clients love their images so much, they want to share. Credit to @photographsbysophia on Instagram and Sophia Johnson Photography on Facebook are appreciated, but not necessary!
